Neapco Notables | Dennis Joußen, Supplier Developer Engineer

At Neapco, we recognize that true strength comes from the talent and passion of our people. By cultivating an environment where creativity and collaboration thrive, we empower our team to drive innovation and achieve excellence every day.

In this edition of Neapco Notables, we spotlight Dennis Joußen, Supplier Developer Engineer at our Germany facility.  With a deep passion for vehicles and the automotive industry, coupled with an appreciation for the opportunities and growth Neapco offers its employees, it was only natural for Dennis to begin his career here.

Dennis recently shared his experiences, insights into his role, and the valuable lessons he’s learned as a proud member of the Neapco team.

What drew you to Neapco?

I’ve always had personal ties to Neapco, as a few of my family members and acquaintances also worked here. During a vocational orientation internship, I was able to gain insight into the company. I’ve also always had a passion for cars so it was an easy choice for me to go into the automotive industry. As I finished school, I looked around for an apprenticeship as an industrial clerk and came across a job listing from Neapco, which I was offered in 2017.

How have your previous experiences prepared you for your role today?

The apprenticeship at Neapco paved the way for my current role, providing me with invaluable hands-on experience. It offered deep insights into the processes and interactions within the automotive industry—knowledge that’s hard to gain from textbooks.

With this knowledge, it’s easier to recognize and understand the needs of my colleagues. This has helped me achieve a smooth start in my current role. To this day, I’m still gaining further experience that allows me to continuously develop my skill set for a wide range of day-to-day tasks.

How has your role at Neapco evolved over the years?

As I mentioned earlier, I kicked off my journey as an apprentice. I spent 3 to 4 days a week on-site at Neapco, balancing hands-on experience with theoretical learning at school on the other days. During this two-and-a-half-year apprenticeship, I worked in various departments, such as purchasing, sales, financial accounting, quality, logistics, and production.

After completing my apprenticeship in the beginning of 2020, I was offered a full-time role at Neapco and joined the Supplier Development Engineering team. At the same time, I continued completing my business administration degree during evening school. After earning my degree, I decided to continue my studies, taking additional courses in industrial engineering, which I am currently working on alongside my job at Neapco.

What do you enjoy most about working at Neapco?

I enjoy the variety in this environment, as the different requirements and tasks make every day interesting. Plus, the new challenges that come from different projects keep things exciting. Working with colleagues from other plants and business partners brings in such a rich cultural diversity that makes my daily interactions even more enjoyable.

Additionally, I greatly appreciate the opportunities to participate in continuous improvement processes, as this proactive approach allows us to overcome obstacles and makes our daily work significantly easier.

What is the most important lesson you have learned while working at Neapco?

To be successful in what you do, you can’t always put your interests before others. You must put yourself in the other person’s shoes and take the more challenging path to achieve the best possible solution. If you follow this principle, it will allow you and your peers to work together successfully, allowing you to achieve your goals and help you to develop personally and professionally.

How do you stay busy outside of the office?

In my free time, I enjoy playing sports, as well as spending time with family and friends. Living close to the stunning Eifel region means there are many outdoor activities to take part in. I especially enjoy mountain biking in the local forest — it’s the perfect way to clear my mind and unwind!

In addition to playing sports, I am very active in my hometown’s local association. I try to contribute as much as possible to help plan local festivities for our community.
