Global Warranty Engineer

  • To lead the development, implementation, administration and effectiveness of a Global Warranty Process. This role will lead the reporting, investigation, analysis, and will take action to reduce warranty claims and costs. The role will also recommend improvements for product performance and to meet Customer and regulatory requirements.

General Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Warranty Analysis activities.

  • Ensure that customer requirements are incorporated into the Warranty process, working with other functions so that product functional specifications and risk and failure analysis (D & PFMEA) are fully met during design & process validation with suppliers.

  • Provide technical and administrative support as needed.

  • Assist with actions and recommendations in the development of dimensional control strategies with plants, suppliers and Customers.

  • Assist in the input for design and procurement of gages and instruments with suppliers.

  • Interact with Customer Quality, Engineering and SQE representatives.

  • Provide support for all manufacturing sites and Global support teams (Engineering, SDE, Purchasing, Quality) with regards to the Warranty process.

  • Lead and support Customer Warranty meetings.

  • Work with the plants, other functions and suppliers as necessary to create corrective action plans to address warranty issues.

  • Develop and manage a QOS based reporting system for Global Warranty communication, analysis and action.

  • Complete Warranty agreement activities with Customers, Plants and Suppliers.

  • Communicate and lead read across lessons learned opportunities from Warranty between functions, sites and regions to drive Warranty process improvement.

  • Develop the Warranty process to comply with CQI-14 requirements.

  • Integrate Program lessons learned in Warranty activities with all suppliers.

  • Communicates with Advance Quality for Customer warranty requirements.

  • Internally escalate Warranty issues and develop a plan with all stakeholders to resolve.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.



Preferred Skills:


  • Driveline, Powertrain or Driveline component and systems knowledge.

  • Machining and Welding knowledge.

  • Strong analytical skills. Preferably Six Sigma Black Belt or equivalent.

  • Warranty Management knowledge.

  • Analytical and statistical software proficient.

  • Reliability Engineering.

  • Ability to navigate Customer portals.

  • Ability to lead and work with Multi-National Teams.

  • Ability to communicate and collaborate with Customers, Suppliers, Senior Management, Plants and work groups especially Product Engineering Teams.

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Reliability Engineering Certification preferred
  • 10 years in Tier 1 Product Engineering or Quality.
